do good Consulting works primarily with small to medium-sized non-profit organizations and occasionally with individuals, government units, and small and mid-sized businesses. We specialize in grassroots-types groups who are poised to and seek to expand their fundraising skills, membership, and impact. Here are a few highlights of do good Consulting's current work.
Restoration Urban Ministries
Restoration Urban Ministries is a faith-based organization founded in 1993 to provide temporary, yet comprehensive, services to individuals, families, and single parents to help the most needy and desperate in the region rebuild lives and livelihoods. The Champaign-based organization offers direct service programs to clients, including temporary housing, classes and workshops, case management, employment and spiritual guidance and counseling, substance abuse recovery programs, and skills training. They also offer several complementary programs, including a food pantry and a clothes pantry.
do good Consulting is leading the organization through a “facelift” to increase its recognition in the community and deepen donor operations. do good is assisting Restoration Urban Ministries in developing a new logo (at right), in implementing a donor-driven fundraising strategy, in creating a new website (under construction), creating story vignettes of clients, and in launching their first-ever e-newsletter, RESTORATION LIFE.
North Suburban Special Recreation Assocation
The Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA) is an intergovernmental partnership of 10 suburban Chicago park districts, two cities, and one village. The organization provides and facilitates year-round recreation programs and services for children and adults with disabilities living in partner communities. NSSRA was formed in 1970 and was the first special recreation association in Illinois and among the first of its kind in the country.
The organization offers more than 700 cultural, sport, social, physical, outdoor, trip, and special event programs. Annually, the Association serves more than 5,000 adults and children with mental, physical, emotional, or other disabilities, visual impairments or behavior disorders, as well as individuals who are on the autism spectrum, who are deaf or hard of hearing, or have debilitating conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis or Alzheimer's Disease.
do good Consulting is working with NSSRA on a GiftWorks database upgrade, import, and training program.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Champaign County
For more than 25 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chamapign County has been helping our community's most vulnerable children through the power of a relationship with a Big Brother or Big Sister, giving kids the support and care they need to make good choices. Matching a carefully-screened adult mentor with a child at-risk, the path to their future is re-paved with hope.
do good Consulting is working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chamapign County to develop their MIGHTY FUTURES Campaign, an effort to raise $10,000 to move the 50 children off their wait list and into healthy strong mentoring relationships. do good is developing the campaign structure, messaging, the campaign logo (above), and assisted with campaign outreach strategies. This effort created a unique relationship that brought together the private sector, governmental entities, and this non-profit organization to build a strong, solid foundation for the children of our community.
Christie Clinic
Christie Clinic is one of the largest physician-owned, multi-specialty group medical practices in Illinois. Founded in 1929, the Clinic serves east central Illinois and today boasts of over 40 departments and 35 specialties allowing physicians and staff can take care of virtually every aspect of family health.
do good Consulting is assisting Christie Clinic with the Clinic’s website and social media needs as well as some marketing initiatives.
Camp New Hope
Based in Neoga, Illinois, Camp New Hope is a non-profit organization founded over 30 years ago by families of people with developmental disabilities running some of the best recreational programs available for special needs individuals. They provide affordable quality programs and services to campers with widely diverse needs and abilities such as Summer Camp, Young Athletes, and Year ‘Round Respite. In addition to providing a caring, nurturing environment for those with developmental disabilities the organization also provides parent and family support.
do good Consulting partnered with the Lumpkin Family Foundation through their Digging Deeper to Enhance Performance (DDEP) program to provide Camp New Hope with a full organization assessment to build organizational efficiency and effectiveness. do good is currently working with Camp New Hope to develop a Summer Camp cultivation strategy.
Christie Foundation
The Christie Foundation was founded in 1975 to improve the quantity and quality of health care education available to the public. The organization’s vision is a healthy, fulfilling life for all. In pursuing its mission of enhancing medical knowledge, education, and medical services for citizens and health care practitioners in east central Illinois, the Foundation focuses giving on:
- Promoting education and training to increase medical knowledge for health care practitioners and the general public;
- Sponsoring symposia and programs on health care topics;
- Providing scholarships to individuals in the medical sciences and allied health fields;
- Offering management and funding for medical services; and
- Making grants to community organizations supporting medical research and education.
do good Consulting is working with the Christie Foundation on strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, systems upgrades, and website development and hosting.
Environmental Education Association of Illinois
Since initiated in 1972, the Environmental Education of Illinois (EEAI) supports and advances quality environmental education throughout the state, providing leadership at the local, state, and national level in the environmental education community by providing and supporting professional development services to formal and non-formal educators.
The organization offers environmental education conferences, promotes supplemental environmental education curricula including such as Project Learning Tree and Project WET, publishes a periodical devoted to current information and ideas about environmental education, and reviews and makes recommendations regarding environmental education materials.
do good is working with EEAI to develop a diversified development strategy.
Midwest Athletic Complex and Institute
The Midwest Athletic Complex and Institute is developing a regional/national multi-sports, fitness, training, recreation, and entertainment complex in Champaign, Illinois. The facility will host large regional sports events of nearly every type as well as attract day users for fitness, education, and training needs.
The Complex and Institute will provide sports training, competition, and sports/health-oriented activities, programs, and entertainment features within a variety of state-of-the-art outdoor and indoor equipment, fields, courts, and facilities.
The overall Midwest Athletic Complex and Institute project is planned as a sustainable development that will include commercial, public, and non-profit elements designed to operate synergistically within one environment as a point-of-destination for the region.
do good is working with the Midwest Athletic Complex and Institute to create community connections to entice investors and partners and to develop the non-profit portion of the project.
Education Justice Project
The Education Justice Project offers educational programs to students incarcerated at Danville Correctional Center. The organization aims to build a model college-in-prison program that demonstrates the positive impacts of higher education upon incarcerated people, their families, the communities from which they come, and society as a whole.
Providing educational resources to those in prison reduces reincarceration rates, saves taxpayers money, and creates safer prison environments. Most importantly, it improves life prospects for those incarcerated after release, and for their families.
do good Consulting is working with Education Justice Project volunteers to bolster organizational sustainability by increasing organizational support across new audiences.
Savannah Green Homeowners Association
The Savannah Green Homeowners Association was founded in 2002 after the development of the Savannah Green subdivision in east Urbana. By way of a covenant document binding all 260 properties and homeowners, members of the Association are charged with electing a governing board, collecting member dues through annual and special assessments, and voting on pertinent issues.
do good is working with the Savannah Green Homeowners Association to reinvigorate their membership and streamline communications systems.
Encore Craft and Design
Encore Craft & Design is a newlocally-ownedbusiness promoting and selling locally made creative reuse designs. Encore gives eco-conscious, creative reuse artists an exclusive, continuous outlet for their unique, fun, functional designs in the greater Champaign-Urbana community. Encore Craft & Design markets and sells products that artists make that incorporate recycled and reused content through themed-based home and office parties, trunk shows, and special events directly to the growing market of local consumers seeking green, locally hand-made arts and crafts.
do good is working with Encore Craft & Design founder Carol Hays on a new business start-up strategy.
MiniVisits
Mini Visits is a just-forming non-profit organization providing social interactions and prescribed activities with miniature therapy horses through visits to schools, healthcare institutions, social service agencies, residential facilities, youth organizations, special needs recreational programs, and visits to the Mini Visits Ranch.
do good is working with Mini Visits founder Deb Murphy on a new organization start-up strategy.
Veterans Estates
Veterans Estates is a just-forming non-profit organization seeking to provide interim housing and self-sufficiency training for homeless, transitional, and displaced veterans.
Through a residential facility, the organization aims to assist veterans in obtaining the resources and community services they need to fully and efficiently re-enter society. Veterans Estates services will include housing search assistance, medical and psychological counseling, job training and placement, substance abuse treatment and counseling, nutrition assistance, transportation, and assistance in obtaining federal, state, and local benefits.
